AzBlueMeanie does great work. The volume of posts he puts out is prolific and I rarely disagree with him.
And I don't on his post "Debunking The Jobs Truthers" post either.
I just think the post is far too polite.
Jack Welch outrightly accused of Obama of manipulating the jobs numbers. No way, no how can you parse his words from Firday morning, uttered in a tweet 5 minutes after the numbers were released, to say that he didn't accuse Obama of doing that. So, Chirs Matthews rightly called him out for it, and gave him at least three opportunities to apologize. He steadfastly refused to do so.
Welch is the epitome of the "job creator" class the Republicans so idolize. It turns out, he's total scum. He went off half-cocked blasting out a message that was utterly devoid of factual basis. In a court of law, it would be a slam dunk that he slandered Obama, even under the standard that applies to statements about public officials, which requires that the speaker be reckless with regard to the truth of his statement.
How does Welch react to Matthews? He stands by his words, with full knowledge that he was dead wrong. A man with any shred of decency would have owned up to his misdeed. Not Welch. His outsized ego nad hard core belief that he's better than the rest of us just wouldn't let him do so.
The media is being way too kind to Welch. He recklessly accused Obama of engaging in conduct that would be considered criminal. Then he didn't have the decency to own up to his wrongdoing.
Our society needs to stop lionizing scumbags. Welch should be ostracized for this. It's just not enough that he merely be debunked. We need to question how it is that a total piece of shit was allowed to rise to be CEO of one of the largest corporations on the planet. The guy clearly is a lesser human being than the great majority of Americans. Perhaps we should be facing the fact that those who acquire vast wealth may be ambitious and almost certainly are cunning, but they're not better than the rest of us. And, not infrequently, they're worse.
