I see that all the feckless media villagers are writing stories today about how the Romney campaign kept his pick of Rep. Paul Ryan as his running mate a "secret" from them. When you get done congratulating the Romney campaign for playing you all for a bunch of fools, maybe you can actually find the time to, you know, ask questions about the veep selection vetting process.
How about "How many years of tax returns did the Romney vetting team review from Rep. Paul Ryan, and will those tax returns be made available to the press pool?"
And if the Romney campaign does give you Paul Ryan's tax returns, you might want to ask when the American people are going to get to see Romney's tax returns as well.
UPDATE: Well at least ABC News is still on the job. Romney campaign requested several years of tax returns of VP contenders:
Mitt Romney requested “several” years of tax returns from his potential running mates, a senior adviser to the candidate said Saturday, suggesting that those considered for the ticket may have been required to reveal more financial documents that the candidate himself.
In a briefing with reporters in Virginia Saturday, senior adviser Beth Myers, who was charged with headed the vice president selection process, declined to specify exactly how many years of tax returns were required, saying only that “several” were requested.
Several, by definition, implies more than two years.
That would be more than the incomplete 2010 tax return and the yet to be completed 2011 tax return promised by Romney. Media villagers are going to have to press harder.
