It's like being trapped in Bill Murray's Groundhog Day (cue Sonny & Cher's "I got you Babe"). This country keeps repeating the same mistake over and over again. When are Americans going to wake up and realize that the GOP is full-o-crap!
Tea-Publicans like to proclaim they represent "small businesses." The GOP defines "small businesses" as multi-national corporations with assets and earnings that exceed the GDP of most countries. That is not a small business.
A "small business" typically is not even a corporation, and most do not have annual income exceeding $250,000 (The 3% or so that do should be incorporated to take advantage of the numerous corporate loopholes that Congress has embedded in the tax code). Small Businesses typically pay taxes at the individual tax rate.
In the same week that the GOP decried President Obama's plan to extend the middle class tax cuts for a year but to allow the top 2% to expire and to return to the Clinton era tax rates on the specious claim that this would adversely affect "small businesses," the Tea-Publicans today in the U.S. Senate filibustered a tax break for small businesses -- the real "job creators." Senate GOP blocks bill to boost small businesses:
The small business tax cut bill died on 53 to 44 vote--it needed 60 votes to move ahead--amid bickering between the parties over which was more anxious to hold an immediate vote on the Bush tax cut issue.
Democrats said the vote was a sign the GOP, which identifies itself as the party of tax cuts, was willing to block those that might create jobs and boost President Obama’s reelection effort.
“Republicans are blocking this bill for no other reason other than that they think passing it might help the president and help the economy,” said Sen. Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.).
Tea-Publicans are only concerned about making the Bush tax cuts permanent for the top 2% -- the executive suits of multi-national corporations, and the investor class who make their money gambling in the casino capitalism of Wall Street.
The Frank Luntz talking point "job creators" (the top 2%) have had their massive tax cuts for over a decade now, yet produced a "lost decade" of job growth under George W. Bush and a sluggish recovery from the Bush Great Recession under Barack Obama. Mr. Boehner, where are the jobs? The faith based supply-side "trickle down" GOP economics is a complete fraud.
