Let me make this clear: I'm not endorsing anyone in the Cherny/Schapira/Sinema primary race. I'm kinda glad I live down here so I don't have to decide between the 3 of them. And please, don't put any campaign-like comments on the post, because I'll delete them. This isn't a political post. I used to teach photography at my high school along with English. I love good photography, and this artless pic jumped out at me. It's a classic visual statement about America as a land of immigrants.
Here's Andrei Cherny between his parents. Even though they'd been in the country a few years, his parents clearly still have a bit of the old country about them. In the center is this All American kid in a Superman t shirt with a confident, "nothing can stand in my way" smile on his face. The world is his for the taking. This is a pure American moment -- truly a wonderful photo, regardless of its current political use.
