Jesse Kelly is licking his wounds and heading back to . . . wherever he's heading back to. My guess is his commitment to Arizona ended on June 12 and he'll be moseying back to Texas.
I usually stay away from commenting about anything that smacks of religion, but this, from Jesse's statement that he's pulling out of the CD-2 race is so outlandishly over the top, I couldn't resist.
“I would like to thank our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, my wife Aubrey, and our supporters for their unwavering commitment to the values that make America great."
Maybe it's just faulty sentence construction. Maybe Jesse meant to say his supporters have an unwavering commitment to the values that make America great. Maybe he didn't mean to put Jesus in that same category. Maybe he doesn't really believe Jesus supports him over Ron Barber, and maybe even voted for Kelly -- mail-in ballot, of course.
It reminds me of the story, probably apocryphal, about a school superintendent in Arkansas who justified his objection to teaching foreign languages in his schools by saying, "If English was good enough for Jesus, it's good enough for me." Jesse would probably agree.
THE MEANIE BEAT ME BY SECONDS UPDATE: AzBlueMeanie must have been typing away at his undisclosed location at the same time I was working at my keyboard, and he pressed "Publish" seconds before me. Jesse Kelly might call it simultaneous inspiration . . . from Satan.
