Because on Tuesday, Neoconfederate Sen. "Cap'n Al" Melvin (R-Tucson) convinced the "Birthers-Birchers-Secessionists" Tea-Publican insurrectionists to put secession from the United States on the November ballot. See Cap'n Al Melvin's 'zombie bill' for secession passed by the Senate, goes back to the House.
Oh, they're not calling it that, but for all practical purposes, that is what this is.
The House passed HCR 2004 on a 38-20 vote, sending the resolution to the Secretary of State. The resolution refers to the ballot a constitutional amendment declaring state sovereignty over lands, air, water, minerals, wildlife and the state's other natural resources based on the argument of "equal footing."
So this November Arizonans will suffer the national embarrassment of having to vote on whether to secede from the United States. Of course, it is unconstitutional and entirely unenforceable.
Voters should reject this unconstitutional and un-American ballot measure, but more importantly, voters should throw out of office every one of the treasonous Neoconfederate Tea-Publican insurrectionists who violated their oath of office and voted in favor of secession from the United States.
