Ted Nugent, the "Motor City Madman," is not a madman, I'm reasonably certain, though he plays one whenever a microphone is in front of him. He exploits his in-control inner demons in pursuit of continued fame and fortune.
I don't know who will be in Nugent's audience tonight at the Pima County Fairgrounds, but my fear is there will be someone whose brain is fizzing with rabies, someone who could be prodded by a screaming, ranting Nugent playing at being crazy to think he'd like to be as famous as Jared Lee Loughner, "and that's what Ted Nugent wants me to do!"
Go crazy out there, Ted. Play like there's no tomorrow. But cool it with the rants about jack-booted thugs and Democrats wanting to take our guns and our freedoms away -- at least while you're in Tucson. One mentally ill individual shooting up a political gathering is more than enough to last our city a few lifetimes.
