Lots of stuff going on this weekend, but if you are a registered Democrat, it is time for the Presidential Caucuses. Announcements from the Arizona Democratic Party:
Arizona Democratic Presidential Caucuses This Saturday
PHOENIX, AZ--This upcoming Saturday, March 31, Democrats from across Arizona will be coming together for the 2012 Arizona Democratic District Caucuses. At the caucuses, Democrats will have the opportunity to do two things: first, the Arizona Presidential Preference Caucuses will take place, where Democratic voters will have the opportunity to come out and vote for the 2012 Democratic nominee for President of the United States. Immediately afterward, the elected and appointed precinct committeepersons at each caucus will elect District-level delegates, selecting those individuals who will serve as delegates from Arizona's eight congressional districts at the 2012 Democratic National Convention.
President Barack Obama of Illinois, who is seeking re-election, is the only candidate who filed the appropriate paperwork for the office of President of the United States in the 2012 Arizona Presidential Preference Caucus.
"The excitement among Arizona Democrats about re-electing President Obama is overwhelming," said Luis Heredia, Executive Director of the Arizona Democratic Party. "From Yuma to Window Rock, I hear from Democrats every day who are eager to hit the ground running and give their all to elect President Obama and his Democratic team up and down the ballot in 2012. The District Caucuses provide a great opportunity for Democrats to come out and get involved in the campaign to re-elect our President and stand by him the way he has stood by us," Heredia added.
All media interested in attending a caucus are encouraged to contact Joaquin Rios of the Arizona Democratic Party at (480) 229-1895 or jrios@azdem.org.

REMINDER: Food Drive at Caucuses Tomorrow to Commemorate Cesar Chavez Day
Tomorrow, Democrats from around Arizona will be gathering at the 2012 Democratic Caucuses, where we excited Democrats will be doing two things: nominating a candidate for President, and selecting delegates to the 2012 Democratic National Convention. You can learn more about that process here.
Our Democratic Caucuses fall on March 31, which is Cesar Chavez Day. Cesar Chavez taught us many things, but among them were the importance of community service. Following his example, we aspire to insure that we are never just working toward the next election, but always working to make our state a better place.
In honor of this tradition, we are taking a canned food collection at our Caucus sites to benefit St. Mary's Food Bank and the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona. We look forward to seeing you tomorrow!
Sincerely,
Luis Heredia
Executive Director, Arizona Democratic Party
