More fallout from Ron Barber's decision to run for a full term in Congressional District 2 this fall.
Sen Paula Aboud (D-LD 28) says she is still running for Congress. The Arizona Capitol Times (subscription required) says "Aboud wouldn’t say whether she’ll drop out of the race if Barber wins the special election in the old 8th Congressional District, where he served as Giffords’ district director for nearly six years. But she left open the possibility that she’ll step aside if he’s the incumbent." Aboud in, Walden out following Barber announcement - Arizona Capitol Times.
Pecan grower Nan Stockholm Walden announced that she will not be running for Congress. No surprise there. As I have said before, Democrats have asked Walden to the dance many times and she has always said no. This wallflower is never going to say yes. Forget about her already and move on.
At this point, the Democratic candidates for CD 2 are Ron Barber, Sen. Paula Aboud, and Rep. Matt Heinz. This is subject to change depending on the results of the June Special Election in CD 8.
Almost forgot... Nomiki Konst, a former University of Arizona student who founded an organization dedicated to civil discourse, has yet to announce if she will stay in the race.
