The Political Calendar is posted on Sundays. Please send us notice of your political events prior to the Sunday before your event (7 days would be most helpful). See the calendar icon in the right-hand column of the blog page for easy access to the calendar.
Friday, March 4th is "D-Day" -- Will the Tea-Publican wrecking crew in Congress force a shut down of the federal government by throwing a Tea Party temper-tantrum over raising the federal debt ceiling and default on the U.S. national debt -- a debt incurred by three Republican presidents (Reagan, Bush I and Bush II National Debt by President) to pay for tax cuts to their über-rich friends and global corporations, and for excessive military spending including George W. Bush's two wars of choice he put on the national credit card without paying for it -- for the first time in our history? (In violation of the "full faith and credit" clause of the U.S. Constitution).
This is a dangerous game these fiscally irresponsible and reckless ideological Tea-Publicans are playing. An actual default on the U.S. debt will set off a financial and economic tsunami that will make the recent Bush Great Recession look like a day in the park. If any of you are still wondering, yes, they really are crazy enough to do this.
